Mark Waddington has been a professional in entertainment since aged 12. He started as a Vaudevillian act for variety shows (The Good Old Days, Leeds City Varieties) and spent a number of years touring as an adolescent. As he grew older, his skills increased, and Mark worked exclusively as a magician for over 18 years, performing all over Europe.
Over Mark's career as a magician, he has gained much notability. He was awarded the best wedding entertainer in the North of England for three years running. He was also awarded Associate of the Inner Magic Circle with Silver Star (AIMC*), a title only given to the very best performing magicians in the world.
Mark found himself wanting to do more than just magic though, and sought new challenges.
During the 2020 pandemic, Mark worked hard to reinvent himself. Not just as a magician, but as other things within entertainment. From there, Mark found himself in the world of acting, appearing in numerous viral videos on social media, totalling more than 80 million views. After that, Mark fancied a taste of scare acting, having been a fan of scare attractions for many years. This inspired a complete career turn, prompting Mark to become an actor as his main role in life.
Mark now works as lead actor and creative at Thornton Hall Country Park, near Skipton, and has been there for more than two years now. In his role, Mark is the farms notable brand character, Farmer Mark, and stars in more than 400 shows per year at the attraction. He's part of the creative events team, writing immersive actor led experiences for guests to enjoy, with new themes appearing each season.
He also presents a Saturday afternoon show on Dales Radio, from 2-6pm with an informal show of chat, banter and great music.
Mark does all this alongside still working as a close up magician for weddings and corporate events.
Mark is available for hire as a magician, actor, presenter, and consultant. Contact Mark to find out more.
